Security Engineer


The Security Engineer will assume the lead role in many facets of the network security program. The Security Engineer will be responsible for defining, delivering and supporting the enterprise security architecture developed in collaboration with the Director of Information Security and Senior IT team members. The individual in this position will also play a strategic and operational role in maintaining and enhancing the enterprises technical incident response capabilities and keeping abreast of the threat landscape.


The Security Engineer will:

  • Take a lead role in conducting security research on threats and remediation techniques/ technology, make recommendations to the corresponding technical teams
  • Drive security initiatives and work with technical teams to implement
  • Lead security event analysis and intrusion detection (IDS/IPS Incident response - triage, incident analysis/forensics, log reviews, and remediation)
  • Support the operational information security responsibilities, including the development of maintenance standards, procedures, and guidelines necessary to satisfy the Information Security department's network operations
  • Proactively monitor and investigate network and other security alerts
  • Conducting risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and determine the impact of proposed changes to business processes, applications and systems
  • Manage and maintain security focused appliances and tools such as IPS, WAF, DDoS prevention systems, Email and Web Proxy, log management/SIEM, Enterprise Vulnerability Scanning, and Application Penetration testing tools
  • Proactively defend Internet facing back office applications and APIs
  • Mentor and train junior team members


Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Threat analysis / Incident Response: interpreting events,  analyzing network traffic, server logs, and application logs
  • Proven expertise in mitigating and addressing threat vectors including APT, DDoS, Phishing, Malicious Payload, API attacks, etc.
  • Experience with defending complex networks
  • Experience with secure data communications and applications
  • Vulnerability/penetration testing/remediation of networks and applications
  • Coding and scripting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of current and upcoming IT security technologies
  • Awareness of latest and common security threats
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to document technical designs and concepts


  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive IT experience/networking technologies is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Security is required
  • Certification in networks/Information Security (CCNA, CCNP, CISSP) is preferred
